Square Foot Garden Update

So I thought it was a good time to do an update on my garden since everything is so massively huge!

I've already harvested a bunch of lettuce for one of our salads last week, but I'm going to have to pick some more because it is ready. Just look at what I've got growing here!

You can see my lettuce hanging out the sides:

And this is my 3rd box that I planted 2 weeks after the first two. I'm glad I am staggering them because it should work out well when things are ready to pick!

I'm very pleased with how it is doing. Especially, the not-having-to-weed part. Since we "made" our own soil, there are no weeds except the occasional maple tree that blew in! And God's been taking care of the watering for the most part, so that always helps too ;)

Square Foot Gardening

So I decided to try my hand at a little Square Foot Gardening this year, and I have to say that I am very excited about all the sprouts that are sprouting up right now. If you are not familiar with this type of gardening, you can check out this link:

Square Foot Gardening Foundation

I checked out this book from the library to help me get started:

The All New Square Foot Gardening: Grow More in Less Space

Check out my boxes!

As you can see, we never got around to adding the strips of wood that are supposed to make the squares, but I made do with some sticks from the yard! :)

I have lettuce, carrots, beans, peas, cucumbers, radishes, and tomatoes planted. Let's see how I do!

Happy little sprouts!
